Our Berkely collection large pattern floral is a typical Arts and Crafts upholstery fabric with hints of the design styles of William Morris.
The Arts and Crafts style began as an opposition to machine produced goods and designs and a search for a more natural and craft oriented design aesthetic. The main idea was that "Ornament should be secondary to the thing decorated" and that any ornamentation should be fitting to the thing ornamented.
Arts and Crafts objects had less ornamentation and often visibly showed the means and methods of production. Many Arts and Crafts designers lived and worked in rural locations and Arts and Crafts fabrics were usually inspired by the wildlife or plants that they found in these surroundings.
Arts and Crafts Curtain Fabric
Our Lindale collection, with its simple and pretty floral designs, is a modern interpretation of an Arts and Crafts curtain fabric.
