One way to use blacks and greys is to create an essentially monochrome colour scheme, using black for structure and definition, grey for transition, and pale greys and whites for the landscape. Black

Black fabric is, interestingly, never quite black; black is the absence of colour and there is always some colour left in a dye. If you choose a black fabric with, for instance, a hint of blue in it then this can be used to tie in blue as an accent colour.
