Regency Stripe Upholstery Fabric

Strictly speaking the Regency period implies the years 1811-1820 during which the Prince of Wales ruled as a proxy for King George III who was unwell. In interior design, however, the term "Regency" is usually taken to mean more generally the styles of the late Georgian period and the early nineteenth century. At the time it was common to use burgundy or green striped linen used to cover furniture, hence Regency stripe upholstery fabric.

Popular colours during the earlier Georgian period were grey-blue, burgundy and sage greens. Later on pea green, soft pinks and blues gained in popularity.

Wallpaper designs of the time also reflected this striped theme, although often in more restrained hues.Regency stripe curtain fabric is still very fashionable and adds an elegant period feel to any room.
