Striped upholstery fabric is ideal for pulling together two or more colours in a room, or across several funiture items. For example, if you have blue curtains and a brown sofa, using blue and brown stripes to make up scatter cushions will pull the colours together. Striped upholstery fabric is also ideal for making large items look smaller - vertical stripes give the illusion that the piece is actually less wide than it actually is.

Many of our fabrics which are suitable for upholstery have the stripe running across rather than down the roll. Such striped fabrics are known as "railroaded". The advantage of railroaded fabric is that wide pieces such as sofas can be sovered, with the stripe vertical, with fewer joins.
