Biedermeier Fabrics
Biedermeier Fabrics
Our Biedermeier fabrics reflect the Central European style of the early 19th century (c. 1815–1848), especially as found in Austria and Germany during a time of cultural refinement. Unlike the grandeur of late Georgian and Regency interiors, Biedermeier design favoured elegant simplicity, comfort and domestic charm, suited to the rising middle class of the era.

Back to homepageBiedermeier Curtain Fabrics
Biedermeier was an influential Austrian-German style of furniture design that evolved throughout the nineteenth century in response to an emerging middle class and the influence of English and other European styles of that period. Many Biedermeier designs give a nod to Georgian textiles and interiors but with simpler and cleaner ornate details.
Biedermeier Upholstery Fabrics
Textiles often featured restrained stripes, delicate florals, small geometric repeats and soft colour palettes, woven in cottons, silks and light damasks. These fabrics created interiors that were tasteful and refined without being ostentatious — a perfect balance of neoclassical influence and homely warmth.
- Motifs: fine stripes, sprigged florals, small geometrics, neoclassical accents
- Materials: silks, damasks, cottons, lightweight blends
